Dark Diamond Sights. The ATDDS is the only iron sight where an illuminated front sight alone in subdued light and without the ability to see the rear sight is capable of making an accurate shot at combat distances. The front sight is the glow in the dark firefly pentagon shape.
By simply aligning the front and rear sights in daylight or darkness a diamond shape will appear once you are fully aligned and the tip of the diamond is where your shot will go.
