Black Snake With Grey Diamond Pattern. Dorsal 15 or 17 scales wide then the snake is an Eastern Smooth Earthsnake Virginia valeriae. A blackish-brown crescent is present between the eyes.
The eastern diamondback rattlesnake has gray or yellowish skin with a dark diamond pattern outlined in black. It has a diamond pattern on the back and is generally more speckled or dirty in appearance than the similar-looking Mojave Rattlesnake. In fact they sometimes will hibernate with other species of snakes including copperheads and rattlesnakes.

The most common rattlesnake species in the area. There are two dark diagonal lines on each side of its face running from the eyes to its jaws. The Eastern Ribbon Snake has a distinct pattern on the body as well as the common stripes. The snakes body is covered with blotches forming regular patterns down the back and sides.
