Atoma Diamond Lapping Plate. Also useful for lapping abrasion resistant steels and doing initial bevel setting and changing bevel angles. Diamond plates do the same but Arks kill them so I use SIC instead.
The Atoma is a very high quality stone. 140 for fast material removal 400 for creating a primary bevel and 1200 for final honing. The Atoms leaves a really uniform scratch pattern and can easily be extended with a 3K 5k 10k stone if you are after surgical sharpness.
This particular coarse is a little more coarse than I usually need for sharpening purposes but I would imagine the higher coarse Atoma.
The Atoms leaves a really uniform scratch pattern and can easily be extended with a 3K 5k 10k stone if you are after surgical sharpness. It is 18 months old and home shop used. Atoma diamond sharpening plate extra fine 1200 grit. I do feel the DMT stones are better at sharpening while the Atoma are better at setting bevels and lapping stones.
